laiko sūpuoklės

šiandien supratau:
laikas priklauso dievui,
ir niekam daugiau

ir kas esi
jei ne baikštus laikrodžio vergas,
apsėstas aistros
jį suvaldyti,
suskaidyti, suplanuoti,
tačiau negali

negali nieko
tiktai stebėti, kaip raukšlės
veidą išraižo,
kaip kūnas sensta
ir džiūva ir traukiasi,
kol lieka vien kaulai,
tik kaulai ir oda, ir nuostaba,
toks didelis vyras,
ir toks mažas karstelis

today I realized:
time belongs to no one
but God

and who are you,
if not a timorous slave
of the clock

possessed by a passion
to decompose it
to rearrrange it
to take control of it
but you can‘t

you can do nothing
but observe

how wrinkles etch
into a face
how body grows old
and dries up
and shrinks

only bones endure

only skin and bones
and wonder,

such an enormous man
in such a small coffin

kai nebeliks dialogo

supratingų akių kontakto
kūno kalbos subtilybių
elementaraus bet nepaprasto
gebėjimo jausti kitą
viso to žmogiškojo skruzdėlyno
leidžiančio nubrėžti ribą
tarp žmogaus ir gyvulio

ir nebus jokio mesijo
dangaus nei pragaro
tiktai krūva išbarstytų fotografijų
nedrąsiai liudys
kadais egzistavusį
amžiams sustingusį
užmarštin nuėjusį pasaulį

 

yet another scenario

the end of the world will come
when there‘s no dialogue
anymore

no more
eye contact maintained
no more
subtlety of body language
no more
elementary, yet
incredible ability
to perceive the other

none of this
human formicary
allowing one to draw
a line between
a man and a beast

and there will be
no messiah heaven
nor hell

and only a pile
of scattered prints
will bear witness,
timidly

of what once was
a world
sunk deep into oblivion
and frozen for ages

 
Born in 1990 in Kaunas, Lithuania, Aistis Žekevičius has received a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural History and Anthropology from Vilnius University. In 2013, he twice participated in youth literature workshops led by bernardinai.lt and in 2014 he attended the Summer Literary Seminars in Vilnius. Later that year his first publication appeared in Šiaurės Atėnai, a cultural weekly. He also took part in the Druskininkai Poetic Fall ‘2014 festival, where he participated in youth poetry readings.
